Over the last 10 years, I have had an increasing number of my patients coming into my office worried about Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia.
There are two reasons that I see for this increase in fear around loss of cognitive function and memory:
- As we age, we begin to be confronted with care-giving aging parents or we might be noticing an inability to remember details the way we used to when we were younger.
- The prevalence of Alzheimer’s dementia is indeed on the rise.
There are over 5 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s today.
Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, an increase of 89% since 2000.
