Your digestive system may be making you fat. It’s hard to believe – but very true!
New research is being published every day that blames the bugs in your digestive system and the way they upset your gut’s immune system on those extra pounds.
The authors of some of these studies explain that damage to the gut can lead to a leaky gut, allowing food particles to be exposed to the gut’s immune system. This then triggers a system-wide immune response, leading to inflammation all over the body and producing obesity by increasing insulin resistance.

You might have heard of insulin resistance. This is when your cells won’t allow the pancreatic hormone insulin into the cell to metabolize your sugar intake into energy. When you are insulin resistant, you store your sugar as fat rather than using it properly for energy.
Freshly made salsa is so delightful–it is a perfect compliment to eggs, meats, beans, you name it. And it is one of those condiments that makes nearly everyone happy, whether they’re following Paleo Diet principles, GAPS dietary prescriptions or raw food ideals. Or, maybe someone just doesn’t bother too much with concern for their nutrition…fresh salsa works for this group, too (and it is a great way to get some fantastic nutrition into them, with a smile on their face!)
